Most outdoor apps show you a map and go quiet. Most AI apps stop existing the moment you lose signal. Roadless is the intersection.

Download your area once and it renders from local storage — terrain, water, roads and trails — with the radio switched off entirely.

AI

The AI is on the phone

A language model runs locally on the device. Nothing is sent to a server, because there is no server to send it to.

GROUNDED

It knows where you are

Distances to water, towns and routes are measured from your GPS position and handed to the AI as fact — so it answers from your map, not from guesswork.

Nothing to sign into

No account, no profile, no analytics, no ads. Your chats, pins and gear list never leave the phone.

How it works

Two downloads while you still have wifi. After that the internet is optional.

  1. Pick your areaChoose where you are headed. Roadless cuts that region out of the world map and saves it to the phone.
  2. Download the AIA one-time download that installs the model locally. It never needs to phone home again.
  3. GoAirplane mode, dead zone, bottom of a valley — the map draws, GPS tracks you, and the AI answers.

Honest about the internet

Setting up an area is the one part that needs a connection: Roadless has to fetch that region's map and its background data. During that step your approximate coordinates go to the mapping and biodiversity services that provide it. Once the area is on your phone, that stops — using Roadless in the field sends nothing at all. The privacy policy spells out exactly what goes where.
